Wayfinder Series- color wheel base
In this painting, "Wayfinder for September 24, 2013" each highway map (of New Jersey/Pennsylvania, incidentally) began with 4 coats of spattered primaries distributed like this:
4 red
3 red, 1 yellow
2 red, 2 yellow
1 red, 3 yellow
4 yellow
3 yellow, 1 blue
2 yellow, 2 blue
1 yellow 3 blue
4 blue
3 blue, 1 red
2 blue, 2 red
1 blue, 3 red
Then they were arranged in a grid, extension cords scattered where the panels met and further spatterings of primaries done twice, randomizing the panels between spatterings. Finally the maps were again randomized and black spattered.
